Resolutie Saterdagh den xxiiii May Ao 1653 Aengesien de ordre onser Heeren Principalen is mede brengende, dat de ordinaris Leden van desen Raade, hier geduerich permanent sullen sijn, en dat niettegenstaende in Raade van India goetgevonden sij, volgens resolutie van dato den 21e Maert vermits de groote onlusten in eenighen tijt herwaerts in Taijouan ontstaen, die niet schijnen als met authoriteijt ende kloeckmoedicheijt te connen neder gelecht werden, tot welck important Gouverno alsoo in Raade van India, naer overlech van saecken goetgevonden sij te versoecken den Heer Carel Hartsingh, ordinaris Raet van India, die de Taijouanse gewesten voor desen lange jaren bijgewoont heeft waertoe alsoo sijn E: sich ten dienste van d'E. Compe heeft willen laten gebruijcken, ende nu tot het voltrecken van Sijn E: aengenomeen reijse veerdich sijnde, den E. Heer Gouverneur Generael Reniersz is comen te overlijden, waerdoor dan verscheijde veranderingen veroorsaeckt sijn, soo dat nu om de gewichticheijt van het Generael Gouvenerno, Sijn E. persoons wijsheijt ende kennisse alhier wel te staet comt, de ordinare Raeden buijten den Gouverneur-Generael den Ede Heer Joan Maetsuijcker, die nu tot het Generael Gouverno gekosen sij, niet meer dan twee in getale sijnde en dat oock den Hr. Arnolt de Vlamingh ordinaris Raet van India wegens de become advijsen uijt Amboina noch niet te paresseeren staet. Soo hebben in Raade van India aengesien Sijn Ed. alles tot sijn aangenome reijs geprepareert hadde, het aen Sijn Ed. in eijge optie gegeven ofte dat Sijn Ed. reijs voltrecken ofte alhier noch in dese conjuncture van tijt, begeerich soude sijn over te blijven, op welcke voorstel bij Sijn Ed. geleth ende het selve 2 off drie dagen in bedencken houdende, rapporteert in Raade van India om de importantie van het Generael Gouverno Sijn Ed: alhier te sullen overblijven, waerop in Raade goetgevonden is naer een ander gequalificeert ende ervaren persoon tot het genoemde Gouverno om te sien ende naerdat de presente Extra-ordinaris Leden uijt desen Raade hun daertoe hebben gepresenteert, soo is verstaen tot het Taijouanse Gouverno te qualificeeren en te gebruijcken den Hr Cornelis Caesar, Extraordinaris Raet van India, die in de genoemde gewesten voor desen mede lange jaren bijgewoont heeft, en dat Sijn Ed. met de laetste bezendinge daerna toe als Gouverneur sich sa1 hebben te vervoegen.

May Ao 1653 Since the order of our Principal Lords
is being brought, that the ordinary Members of this Council, will
be here continually permanent, and that notwithstanding in Council
of India being approved, according to resolution dated March 21, since
the big riots started in some time thither in Taijouan, which seem
not to be suppressed other than with authority and braveness, to which
important Governor thus in Council of India, after consideration of
the matter approved, they to request his Excellency Carel Hartsingh,
Ordinary Counsel of India, who attended the Taijouanese districts
for these long years, whereto his Excellency allowed to have himself
used in the service of the Noble Company, and is now ready to fulfill
and take his Excellencies taken journey, the Noble General Governor
Reiniersz came to die, through which then
several changes are caused, so that now for the importance of the
General Government, his Excellencies wisdom and knowledge here now
stands well, the Ordinary Counsels besides the General Governor His
Excellency Joan Maetsuijker, who is chosen for the General Government,
not being more than two in number and that also Sir Arnolt de Vlamingh
Ordinary Counsel of India, because of the received advises from Amboina
[Ambon] not to be parried. Thus have given in Council seeing
that His Excellency prepared everything for his assuming voyage, on
which proposition to his Excellency pay attention and keeping the
same for 2 or three days in mind, reports in Council in India for
the importance of the General Government, [if] His Excellency
stays behind here, whereupon in Council is approved to look for another
qualified and experienced person for the mentioned Government and
after that the present Extra-Ordinary Member of this Council have
offered themselves therefor, thus is understood to qualify and use
for the Taijouanese Government Mr. Cornelis Ceasar,
Extraordinary Council of India, who has lived in these previously
mentioned districts, and that His Excellency has to report with the
last shipment thereto.
